40 Years: Philips Daft Jack

POST 26/40 - PHILIPS 'DAFT JACK'

1990. Mel Smith & Griff Rhys Jones were pass masters at radio. They did several great spots for us. We like this one called 'Daft Jack' for its great use of silence and timing. The combined efforts of all of us, led by the virtuoso Nick Angell crafting each millisecond, paid off.

Radio is such a great medium, a brand building medium, so under used. But only if what sets out to be funny, truly is funny - most spots aim and miss.
